Okay, I just wanted to rule that out as a source of the weird big jumps or of the jitter. BTW, the Intel i210 card can time stamp any packet, and so it could be used with NTP just as well as with PTP. All you would need is an ntpd that supports the Linux SO_TIMESTAMPING socket option...
