No, I am not.

The driver is for the Linux kernel, and anyone may contribute to that
project. Intel does develop Linux drivers, of course, but they also
cooperate with non-Intel developers, too.

I am the author and maintainer of the PTP Hardware Clock (PHC)
subsystem of the Linux kernel.

It sounds like to me that the 82576 has a hardware bug (and not a
driver issue).

I would recommend the i210. It is not expensive, and it has excellent
