Below is the result of your feedback form. It was submitted by Kelly Ooi (rin...@ya...) on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at 19:27:04 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Distribution: Red Hat BIOS: Don't know CPU: AMD-K7 (Athlon) Section I need help on: XFree86 Amount of RAM on my system: 128 megabytes Error message(s): I am trying to install redhat 7.0 on my computer. I boot from my cd and it loads and asks what i want to install in (text, graphic, expert...) I hit enter to go to graphic install and it loads up untill just befor the program woud appear and an error flashess it goes away but only the text install will load. After I installed it I booted up and hit startx and the same error was there is has the tasks that the computer was doing and most of them have (II) next to them but one has (WW) warning, couldn't open module v41 (EE) failed to load module v41(module does not exist, 0) more (II) stuff then, (EE) No modules detected. What is this v41 module supposed to be used for, a quick search on google doesnt show up much about it, greping through /usr/src/linux/Documentation doesnt give much either. I dont know how X4 decides what modules to be loaded but there seems to be something that RH decided that you would need and the install disk doesnt have that module. something about the rest of the log is in /var/log/XFree86.0.log Fatal server error: No screens found I am assuming that (II) means OK, (WW)means warning, and (EE) Means Failed. Message: BTW, I am using a nVIdia Geforce 2MX graphics card. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
