First, I used to have a Sony CRX140E and it would NOT burn CD-XA Mode 1 or 2 CDs. If you were able to then kudos - you did a better job then me :). But I returned my crappy Sony and bought a Phillips instead. But CRX140E's don't support XA Mode 1/2 in _hardware_, according to cdrecord's documentation (README.SONY), so again, I don't know how you were able to burn the other images you mentioned. Second, I'm not really sure if you're referring to the questionable "linux" kernel that Rene M. has been distributing, as you didn't specify this in your post. I don't know if you saw my "Clarifying.." post on dcdev, but here goes: 1. The kernel being distributed on dreamcastlinux.org is NOT supported by linuxdc.sourceforge.net. We (Karl and I) didn't do it, and I don't want anything to do with it. 2. We will NEVER release a kernel without source, and NEVER release a kernel with proprietary/NDA Sega code in it. This goes directly against the goals of the LinuxDC project and the kernel Rene distributed goes against this - which is why we won't support it. I'm sorry I had to use your post to do it, but I think this is an issue that needs to be nipped in the bud. To all list subscribers: please direct all questions about the kernel on dreamcastlinux.org to Rene M. and NOT to this list. We will only deal with the kernels that we produce, period. If someone asks you what LinuxDC is, here's a one-line retort: "LinuxDC is a project that is documenting the Dreamcast hardware by porting the Linux kernel to its hardware." To those hanging in the balance, the RTC/timer stuff is done, it needs to be merged with CVS, and I'm currently working on the actual Dreamcast configuration (machine vector, read the source) and code for the G2 bus. It's coming real soon now :). M. R. |
