Indeed, although the *two* places where they are used (as opposed to the
entire file) are used for printing debugging messages, so they were
probably left in the original patch/sync unchanged to facilitate that.
Still, our development policy is not to use them. Something I learned in
art class about "Form over function..." :P. Who was that? Buckminster
Fuller?
