Hello, I'm writing to announce the latest version of our live multi-user cd.=20 Just pop it in your machine, and if you have enough nvidia video cards, keyboards, mice, and sound cards (USB sound cards work too) you will have a multi-user system up and running in about 5 minutes with no questions asked. For more information and to download the .iso, check out: http://groovix.com/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/KioskDemoDisc and http://groovix.com/kiosk/ This version uses the open source nv driver and works very reliably. Also, we have ubuntu .deb packages available that enable multi-user operation on a normal Ubuntu hard drive install. These should also work with recent versions of Debian, mepis, linspire, etc. but we haven't tried them. To convert your normal Ubuntu install to a "Groovix" install with other recommended packages and enhancements, you can download and run http://groovix.com/ubuntu/breezy_setup.bash and then run /usr/bin/groovix_breezy_customer_install.bash to install non-free software too. see http://groovix.com/ubuntu/ for more details OR, to just install our multi-user packages, Just add these to your sources.list: deb http://archive.groovix.net/ubuntu breezy main multiuser deb http://archive.groovix.net/ubuntu breezy-security main multiuser and then, you will need to install these packages: slim-audio slim-usb slim-video PLEASE NOTE: these packages are still in "beta" mode and are not perfect. In particular, they overwrite key configuration files (after backing them up) and don't reverse the changes on uninstall, so you probably don't want to install them on your golden everyday use install. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Michael Pardee 1-888-323-1742 Open Sense Solutions LLC http://opensensesolutions.com |
