This works very well - you just described my setup.  Well, I used
to have two serial mice - one broke so I replaced it with USB.
Two ps/2 keyboards are trivial. If you get any trouble to sort out,
then it will likely be uncooperative video cards. 

As for "working out of the box", you have to set up your xorg.conf files
carefully.
