which ruby patch set?

Currently I run kernel 2.6.9 with ruby and ck patchsets
and a patched xorg-x11-6.8.1.901 server using the hackvideo option
Now I understand that the hackvideo option was only temporary.

I am curious as to which patchset(s) to use when upgrading to kernel
2.6.11(12)
and possibly a new xorg server

I am also unclear as to what is the proper way to patch/run a xor
server. Do I need to patch the server and if so with which patchset?
