Sorry about the delay. Multihead will come back to the fbcon layer. 
What I like to do is have a mapping field in fbcon. Currently we have 
map: and vc: option to fbcon. I like to use the con2fb_map to take all the
devices we have a map the proper vc's to the fbdev device. Its not so easy 
from the VT layer has it only has the global fg_console :-(

Most of work is done on a laptop at work :-(
