sorry for not keeping you informed, 
(i hit "reply" && not" reply all" some days ago,
and we continued the discussion privately :( )

it seems like a usb/acpi problems coming from
too old kernel, which were fixed by updating to 2.4.22
i'm waiting for his conformation that it works under bruby,
he tested it under vanilla-2.4.22 & everything was OK
