I compiled the vanilla kernel-2.4.22 without the bruby patch and booted it without any problems. When I applied the bruby patch to kernel-2.4.22 and successfully compiled it, I then tried booting it, which then worked. But I got some error messages when it tried loading the usb support modules and then when it starts loading system services(1st of which is the system logger), it stopped displaying anything on the screen.
