Bug report: 2.5.50 input + fbdev api

A bug report against 2.5.50 + fbdev API, as posted to list:

Dell Dimension 4500, with USB keyboard (Sun type 5), ATI 128 card.
With just a USB keyboard, no AT keyboard attached, I get unknown
scancode errors from atkbd.c as keys are pressed.
(USB compiled into kernel)

With both USB & AT keyboard, it freezes: keys don't work.

(Can debug further as required).
