[PATCH] new api and blank code changes

Here is a link to my patch for the new framebuffer api and the first
change from it, the blank code cleanup. The patch is a good size (84K)
but is need. Please apply it. It includes the first patch I sent you but I
didn't see it applied so I included with this patch. Thank you.
