Well the reason I did this was I was doing ARM ruby developement.
Unfortunely Russell King moved over to the AC tree so I continued to do
developement on the ARM branch against Linus tree until just recently.

Yes. I believe using the -vt flag would allow X to run on two seperate
consoles at the same time. As for blanking well that is more of a problem.
Unfortunely you can't run a X server across multiple desktops at the same
time.
