On using it, I observed lossage -- calls which were fed in but didn't
make their way back out. I thought I found instances of this in which
the filtering done in input.c was not a suitable explanation; however,
I'm unable to reproduce any such situations now, and am thus compelled
to conclude that they don't exist.
