I don't see a reason that it won't, unless nVidia changed the place of
the remapped vga io. 

Two possible problems: 
The card must be initialized before loading the driver. Did you
initialize it?
Is the driver still working even on Riva128? I don't use 2.4.0, so I
don't know. Can you try the original driver on 2.2 (with the Geforce)?
