The broken API should be kept until apps don't need it anymore. I will let these companies know of the changes. Two year from now, to be on the safe side, X servers etc will be using fbdev and the input layer. Especially if they want to support multihead systems. So in time the need for this out dated API will go away :) Just like a.out support. After I'm done with the console project I will work on the porting every single card supported by XFree86 to the fbdev layer. Q: Why did they deprecate a.out support in linux? A: Because a nasty coff is bad for your elf.
