But font sizes like 6x11 exist. What could be done in this case is even
tho it is say a 6x11 font we bit padded it so it is 8x11. The fonts will
just appear to be farther spaced apart.

I'm only talking about it for systems where this is a must (i.e amiga).
Otherwise you can do whatever you want.

I strongly disapprove that approach. I routinely use ProFont6x11 since
it works on pm3fb (ok, this evening :-), and it's very useful to have a
wider console (particulary since my XF4 is broken :-( ). Padding to 8
pixels would be a waste.
