Last time i checked the monichrome driver in kgicon failed to compile (cause 
it wasn't being maintained).  I assume that KGI has a similar issue.  give 
it a try.

Not as far as I could test it. I have had an monochrome and VGA card
plus two PS/2 keyboards happily booting as a true multihead machine
with KGI-0.9.
