Logitech Freedom 2.4 coreless, keeps changing device name. On boot the device /dev/input/js0 is created and jstest works just fine. After a while the device has changed to /dev/input/js1 and jstest still works fine.

The problem is that the device is already opened by an application so the program stops responding to the joystick. Other apps look for /dev/input/js0 as the first joystick, eg SDLJoytest.

Maybe I've missed something to configure, like a udev rule.

Hope you can help

    Hi Duncan,

Do you still have this issue? It sounds like the device is disconnecting and reconnecting for whatever reason; "dmesg" will probably show USB disconnections and reconnections. If that is the case a udev rule would help maintain the device name but I'm not sure it would help programs which are already using the device.

    Regards,

    Stephen
