Please, compile with SysRQ enabled and then, when the machine freeze,
try to get a list of the current tasks (ALT-SysRq-t) and send it to
the list. If you have spare time to debug this problem, you could
still apply kdb [1] patch and check where it's hanging. :-)

PS: I assume this lockup does not happen on 2.4.17 vanilla. Am I
right?
