The misc package package contains various utility scripts including: 

alarm          Plays an audible alarm until the enter key is
               depressed.  Useful to call at the end
               of a long process to alert the user to take action.

compare_cds    Performs various types of comparisons between CD-ROMS.
               Designed originally to verify that one CD exactly
               matches another.
