[Linuxcommand-discuss] long options with getopts

Hi

I've been looking into using getopts for processing options passed to a 
script.  However I would like to be able to use long option-names.  I 
don't see how this can be done with getopts.  For C there appears to be a 
getopt_long is there anything similar for bash?

Interesting question.  After a little creative Googling, I came across
this:

(which also demonstrates my need to correct the character encoding of
the SuperMan pages ;-)
