This project is intended to assist new users of Linux to quickly
learn the basic operation of a Linux system with the emphasis on
those elements of Linux that are unfamiliar to the users of legacy
operating systems.
In addition to education, the purpose of this
project is use education as a means of Linux advocacy. The
educational content of the project is designed to reveal the
advantages of Linux to the audience. To do this, exercises and
examples are carefully selected to show capabilities not found in
other computing environments. It is assumed that the audience for
this project is a seasoned user of a legacy operating system. It is
also assumed that the audience has reached the point of successful
installation of Linux and has begun to use a graphical user interface
(either KDE or Gnome) but has not yet used the system in a manner
that takes advantage of the powerful features of Linux.
