Hi!

I have an externel firewire harddrive wich worked fine
under kernel 2.4 (any version) but does not work witth
kernel 2.6
(any version up to 7).

When I plug the drive in I get:

ieee1394: Error parsing configrom for node 0-00:1023
ieee1394: Node changed: 0-00:1023 -> 0-01:1023
ieee1394: Node added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023]
GUID[0030e000e0009745]
scsi1 : SCSI emulation for IEEE-1394 SBP-2 Devices
ieee1394: sbp2: Error logging into SBP-2 device - login
timed-out
sbp2: probe of 0030e000e0009745-1 failed with error -16

and no device nodes are present to mount the individual
partitions :(

The firewire case seems to be (gscanbus):
GUID: 0x0030E000E0009745
Node Capabilities: 0x000083C0
Vendor ID: 0x000030E0
Unit Spec ID: 0x0000609E
Unit SW Version: 0x00010483
Model ID: 0x00000000
Nr. Textual Leafes: 2
Vendor: OXFORD SEMICONDUCTOR LTD.
Textual Leafes:
Oxford Semiconductor Ltd.
OXFW900

and the firewire controller on the motherboard is a
built in:

0000:00:0d.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): nVidia Corporation
nForce2 FireWire (IEEE 1394) Controller (rev a3)

I tried the newest kernels from kernel.org and also
replaced
the drivers/ieee1394 directory with the latest snapshot
from the ieee1394 website.

Lokking forward for any help, thank a lot!

Fabian
