I'm trying to use a firewire harddisk enclosure
together with
my sony pc4 camcorder.

Grabbing video to the local ide harddisk is no problem
at all.
Same with using the disk enclosure without the cam. No
problem to copy large files from the local ide disk to
the firewire
disk.

No problem to copy files from the local disk to
firewire disk
with the cam daisy chained after the firewire harddisk.

When trying to grab files via kino to the firewire disk
kino
crashes and I can't unmount the external disk.

Syslog shows up the following errors repeatedly:

Jul 12 10:25:41 video kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0
channel 0 id 0 lun 0 return code = 10000
Jul 12 10:25:41 video kernel: I/O error: dev 08:21, sector
150416

I did change the routing of the firewire cable from daisy
chained to using the second firewire connector of the pc
without any success. I also tried with another harddsik
enclosure without success.

Pc is an 933MHz PIII with 1GB of RAM, Lucent firewire
chipset, running Debian sarge with
kernel 2.4.25.

Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Carsten
