recording DV without timestamps?

Hello,

today I tried to insmod and use the ieee-driver (CVS version from 28.05.00)
with my camera (Sony TRV310E) connected bot not playing back a tape.
Instead I had enabled the direct analog->DV function (without tape
recording) so the camera is sending a DV stream without a timestamp.

For insmod ohci1394 I got the message:
ohci1394_0: irq_handler timeout event 0x00020000
Starting dvgrab I got no frame recorded. Now I played back a D8 tape and
tried dvgrab again (without rmmod and insmod anything) and it worked with
no problem.

So it looks like the driver (or dvgrab?) does not transfer any data if there
is no timestamp in it.

Did anyone try this before either by patching the camera or by playing back
a normal Hi8 tape (I don't have any). If it's really the missing timestamp
in the DV data is there an easy way to fix it?
