Status: ieee1394 via CardBus?

Hi!

At our institute we'd like to do ieee1394 transactions via a couple of
Vaios that are unfortunately equipped with Sony's proprietary iLink
chipsets. Since the rest of our software runs on Linux, we thought about
buying a ieee1394 CardBus card. Poking through the list archives however I
found some references several months ago that it was doubtful whether
would work via CardBus. So can someone comment on the current status of
linux1394 and PCMCIA/CardBus? Or any suggestions about what might be a
good card to look for?
