Re: patch for 2.2.17 kernel

Jan, the kernel-2.2.16 patch works against the 2.2.17 kernel as well.
The patch updates the appropriate config files and documentation for the
kernel source package, so go ahead and apply that. Then, copy the files
from the cvs update into the /usr/src/linux-2.2/drivers/ieee1394
directory. Next, when you use make menuconfig or xconfig to configure
the kernel, you need to go into the first submenu, code maturity
options, and enable prompting for development/incomplete drivers to get
to the ieee1394 section. Finally, the ieee1394 submenu appears/enables
so you can choose modules. You'll want to enable IEEE 1394, OHCI, and
Raw IEEE 1394 I/O support. Modules works fine for most users; however,
some users have said they need to compile in the support. Also, please
purchase an OHCI compliant card.
