Isochronous receiving from 60 channels?

I'm working on a IEEE1394-based research project and am investigating
the Linux IEEE1394 drivers. I have a tree of custom 1394 modules and
need to be able to support isochronous receives from all of them. 60
channels, roughly 5Mbit/s each. Do the current Linux drivers support
this? 

This line in the ohci1394.h file made me nervous:
#define IR_NUM_DESC 16  /* number of IR descriptors */

What are the descriptors? IR is isochronous receive? Do I need one for
each channel, and if so, can I just change the define and recompile? 

I'm new to Linux and IEEE1394, so any general comments and warnings
would be greatly appreciated.
