Try to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH.  In csh, do 'setenv
LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/local/lib'.  In bash, do 'export
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib'.

   Thanks. That works.

   I am now getting gscanbus windows open on the screen and in some cases
can read registers on the bus.

A more permanent fix would be to edit /etc/ld.so.conf and add
/usr/local/lib, then run ldconfig.  This updates /etc/ld.so.cache and
you won't have to use LD_LIBRARY_PATH anymore.
