Slave not detected on Oxf911

The Oxford911 ide-fw bridge support Master-Slave
configurations. In my case i use my hd as master and my
cd-burner as slave. In WindoofXP it works flawlessly
(both are detected simultanusly) but linux doesnt
detect the slave if a master is present. If i unplug
the Master the slave is detected.
i use 2.4.18 .
any idea whats wrong ?

with 2.4.20 Problem still unchanged.
Master detected but Slave invisible.
Really sad because its a cheap hack to go with 2 drives in
one FWenclosure with OXF911 ..

I too have the same problem. I have 3 granite digital
OXFW911 based bridges that support 2 drives per bridge under
WIndows. There is a windows bug with the second drive where
it detects it as:
UNKNOWN VENDOR AND MODEL IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device
while the master is detected as:
Granite Digital FireVue 1394-IDE Bridge LUN0 IEEE 1394 SBP2
Device
But they both work just fine.
Really need this fixed so I can use LVM instead of Veritas
Volume Manager.

A lot of these 2 and 4 bay enclosures using the OX911
chipset and running a master and slave off each bridge are
starting to show up pretty cheap on ebay.
This issue may start to be seen by quite bit by many more
people in the near future.
I'm having the same problem with a 7 bay external SCSI
enclosure I converted to firewire with 3 Granite Digital
OX911 dual drive bridges and a single drive indigita bridge.

I just confirmed the same issue (dual bay enclosure) oxf911
chipset. I can see and access both drives on Window XP,
but only one on linux kernel 2.4.20-18.10.1 (smp on i686). I
have tried every possible combo of jumper settings for
slave/master/cs/none on the two drives, but it consistently
only discovers one of them. Since this is a new system that
I am setting up at home, this has cut my storage in half. I
would be very interested in any solutions available.
Thanks!,
