#28 machine freezes

I believe my problem has to do with the particular
hardware I have, since I have the same problem with
Win 2000. I have a D-Link DFW-500 card and Sony
TRV520 handycam. Both in win2000 and linux, the
machine freezes when I turn on the camera. Your
compatability list suggests that I should not have
problems with these two pieces of hardware, yet I have
looked on a few message boards and this problem seems
common for other sony handycam/d-link card owners.

On Linux Box:
Once I modprobed ohci1394 and raw1394, I ran
testlibraw which reported 1 card found. Then I would
connect the handycam to the linux box, and turn the
camera on.. at which point the machine freezes.

Any suggestions where how to fix, where to look for
answers etc..
