With the work that is occuring on Network Namespace in the 2.6.25 kernel, there will no longer be a need for the linux-vrf kernel development. This project will change its focus to VRF support in various routing software (quagga, xorp, etc). My Problem is, that I want to use more than 8 vrfs. When do you patch linux-vrf so that I can use more than 8? Is there another oppertunity to use more than 8? patching rtnetlink.c does only have the affect that the kernel says: Aieee, killing interrupt handler. And why can't I use ipv6 and linux-vrf? If that works and your 'same IP' still doesn't work, then I think this is due to the route cache bug, and I will try to find time to investigate it. BTW the 'route' and 'ifconfig' utilities are not 'VRF' aware. You will want to use the 'ip' utility to check the status of VRF related configurations. Hello Nick, You are correct in pointing out that VLAN interfaces can be added a VRF. AFAICT any interface that shows up in 'ip link show' can be assigned to a VRF. Hmmm. very interesting. My guess is that the route cache isn't keeping VRF entries seperate. If so it's definitly a bug. To verify look in /proc/net/rt_cache* and see what the entry look like for the dest your ping= ing. "possibly" the problem of the limit of the kernel stack size.. as linux-vrf 0.900 patch lets the kernel keep routing table(fib_table)s as many as VRF_MAX and other structures also. VRF_MAX=65 works for me. However, I have to admit that I use VRF 0.100 with Linux 2.4.24 plus a bunch of own fixes in order to adapt the patches to kernel 2.4.24 and then to avoid incidental kernel oopses. The oopses were due to in kernel memory management of the VRF extension. You might see similar oopses in your kernel logs, even in the case when it seems that just a user space process terminated on some activity. Hi, I would like to ask about the limitation of the VRF, i can only configure it up to 8 VRF (while 0 it's already being used). From di archive, i saw the reply about the limitation of the VRF, but i don't quite understand what it means.
