Config : Athlon PC + Kernel 2.4.18 + udf-0.9.6 +
udftools-1.0.0b2 + Pioneer DVR-103 CD-RW/DVD-RW
Problem : I get an error anytime I try to use cdrwtool
for writing/formating a CD-RW or a DVD-RW.
For example, with a DVD-RW disc inserted which already
contain 1 track :
# cdrwtool -b fast -t 1
fast blank
setting speed to 1
1216KB internal buffer
setting write speed to 1x
wait_cmd: Invalid argument

The problem is the same when using CD-RW media.
I have no problem to blank and write DVD-RW with this
drive using the patched version of cdrecord :

I don't see any mention of the pktcdvd patch. Although you
don't need the pkcdvd module itself to be loaded to use
cdrwtool, I believe you do need some other changes the patch
adds.
Peter Osterlund has been keeping the packet patch current
with the 2.4 kernel series. He advises using the most
recent patch (2.4.19-pre4) with a 2.4.18 kernel. This
worked for me with one fialed hunk in Sparc-specific code.

Yes.. same problem here, can read, but not write. X-CD-Roast
can blank the CD, it works.
No success with cdrwtool.
