Hello,
I'm trying to use ntfsresize 1.7.1 to shrink my Windows XP Pro install so I can add linux. I started by booting into windows safe mode and running defrag. The defrag graphics indicate that no junk is hanging off the end of my 20GB drive and that windows is using about 7GB. I then boot into Redhat 8.0 rescue mode and use ntfsresize hoping to shrink things down to about 10GB. ntfsresize says that I can only shrink it to about 14GB. I shrunk it down this far as an experiment and, after repeating the defrag, tried to shrink it again. This time it says the ntfs file system is as small as it can be and it won't let me shink it any further. Because I'm not particularly attached to my windows install, I try to use the -f option to force the resize. ntfsresize behaves the same as if I did not use the -f. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brian
