True, it should fix only gcc 3.3 (not tested), but not compilers before
2.96 (tested). I also didn't test/audit if the patch has side-effects,
e.g. screws up NTFS partitions.
SuSE added this to their ntfsprogs release:
"PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE TOOLS ARE NOT YET STABLE AND CAN LEAD INTO
DATA LOSS"!
However we stated it stable and I didn't get _any_ report on data loss that
would have been caused because of ntfsprogs/ntfsresize (for about 10
months).
So maybe they screwed it. I really don't know. SuSE 8.2 wasn't available
two weeks ago and I don't have the time to test and check it out now (code
looking ok is one thing, having compiler bugs is part of the life).
