the driver that ships with 7.2 for NTFS is bad. Very,
very bad driver. That is why out of the box you
cannot mount an NTFS volume.
However, you can recompile the kernel to include NTFS
READ ONLY (do NOT enable WRITE) support, and do this
as a MODULE (do NOT add NTFS Read into the kernel)
only.

covering recompiling the kernel (specifically for data
forensics work, but the steps and screen shots are
there).
Also, I would recommend grabbing the NTFS driver from
this list you're subscribed to. It's much newer and
more stable than the one on the 7.2 distro.
