I had tried to setup such a scheme on SF as well. It works, but I
would not call it "work well". I run the update job every six hours,
which is quite infrequent when you want to see your changes. Running
it more frequently would result in the pages getting touched more
frequently (even if they are unchanged), which is also undesirable.
I also attempted to initiate an update to the pages on every
commit. Did you attempt such a thing? I failed, essentially because
the web server is on a different machine than the CVS server.
