Hi, everyone!
Hope that someone will read this and tell me if there is something I can do
to recover Not Formatted NTFS partition.
I have a lot of partitions on /dev/sda
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 465.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 100M 0 part
├─sda2 8:2 0 1.9G 0 part
├─sda3 8:3 0 20G 0 part
├─sda4 8:4 0 52.6G 0 part
├─sda5 8:5 0 125.4G 0 part
├─sda6 8:6 0 265.3G 0 part
└─sda7 8:7 0 520M 0 part
After trying to resize sda6 to give more space to sda4 something went wrong
in Acronis Disk Director 12. I ended up with Not Formatted sda6.
mount.ntfs-3g could not mount sda6 with "Invalid NTFS signature" error.
ntfsfix helped to restore PBS. Then I used testdisk to copy PBS to CPBS.
testdisk also tried to recover MFT but could not. Then mount.ntfs-3g
adviced to run chkdsk /f on it. I tried and chkdsk failed with "unable to
determine volume version and state" error.
I tried to use photorec to recover files. It worked but without names and
directory structure. Is there a better free tool to do this with names?
Will it help to do quick format on sda6 to rebuild MFT?
Thanks,
Viacheslav
