Using ntfsprogs 1.11.2. I am trying to copy (not clone) the original NTFS partition
on my compaq portable, which runs XP home, to a 2nd , larger drive so I can
replace the "original".
The 2nd is temporaily in an external case using USB.
With a recent Knoppix, the original is /dev/hda1 and the 2nd is /dev/uba1. It
was NTFS but the the NTFS size was smaller than the partition size (don't ask).
So I tried nfsresize. It kept saying something about " marked offline by XP
because not shutdown, restart XP". I did & ran chkdisk. Looked AOK, but nfsresize
gave the same error.
SO, I tried mkntfs. On my first try, it said no -H, no -S XP will not be able
to boot.
SO, I killed mkntfs, rebooted and tried mkntfs -H ... -S .. ,... /de/uba1.
Now, mkntfs keeps saying:
invalid option ---H
and/or
iinvalid option --S
even with -n
Suggestions?
thanx
