This build enviroment should be handling the cross-compilition issue. I find it odd that it does not work as it should. I must admit I never tried it myself. After running the configure script, A config.h file is genereted. You can edit it manually and declare that malloc/realloc exist. After all, in a cross build, the configure script is only guessing. Issues like that better be discussed on the dev mailing list.
