I'm having the same problem. I have a custom kernel, so I can load up the livna
ATI drivers (painful, I'll tell ya!)
Here's what I'm going through:

[root@excelsior ntfs]# rpm -qa | grep -i build
rpm-build-4.3.2-21
[root@excelsior ntfs]# uname -r
2.6.11-1.20_FC3
[root@excelsior ntfs]# ls -l
total 17956
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 8213 May 17 23:21 build-2.6
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18345061 May 17 23:25 kernel-2.6.11-1.20_FC3.i686.rpm
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 3389 May 17 23:21 kernel-module-ntfs.spec
[root@excelsior ntfs]# ./build-2.6 kernel-module-ntfs.spec
kernel-2.6.11-1.20_FC3.i686.rpm
Using: kernel-module-ntfs.spec
Building modules for kernel: kernel-2.6.11-1.20_FC3.i686.rpm
Extracting source rpm... done
Preparing kernel source... Failed. Giving up.
