Somewhat complicated issue:
VMWare WindowsXP SP2 host w/ 4.0GB disk. Need more space.
Create new VMware virtual disk in virtual machine.
Boot KNOPPIX 3.7 LiveCD.
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc to copy old image.
Use QTParted to resize disk. Works okay.
If I convert the the original disk image to a dynamic disk, between the "dd"
and the "QTparted" steps in an attempt to extend the volume with XP disk manager,
WindowsXP will attempt to boot, and throws me a bluescreen (which vmware kills
too fast for me to read). The only words I could read fast enough are "virus"
and "boot".
I have solved my little problem, but I can still reproduce this scenario on
another VM if someone thinks this is a bug and can give me some guidance on
gathering more information.
Regards,
Chris Kaminski
PS: Thanks for a great tool!
