The write support is just not to a stage in development that I would use it for much of anything beyond testing. This is not true. The NTFS driver (in 2.6 kernels) is fully stable for file overwrite. It has been in production use by many distros and never has a problem been reported that has turned out to be a problem with the NTFS driver.
