At least the oops doesn't seem to make sense otherwise. Could one of you compile the ntfs module and preferably the whole kernel themselves on their fedora core 2 and see if it then works? Otherwise I would need the .s file from fs/ntfs/super.c to find out where exactly it is oopsing to diagnose this further.
