It depends on the partition table. You might need to modify or
completely recreate it.

The first 512 bytes of a disk has the MBR, the partition table (if there
aren't logical partitions) and other things. When you do something to
create some kind of MBR, and use a partitioning tool (parted) that's very
famous to create non-bootable partitions for Windows and you ignore other
things then don't really expect that things will work fine. Depending on
many factors boot might or might not work.
