I've seen this error message previously from other users as well. Unfortunately the driver doesn't log why it thinks it's not NTFS. Could you please run ntfsmeta -d /dev/hda9 if it reports any problem and what it is? ntfsmeta is at http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsmeta.gz BTW, it's completely possible to have ext2 or any other filesystems on an NTFS (or on most other) partition type. This could happen if you accidentaly formatted your NTFS to be ext2.
