For those of us interested in GNU/Linux, the fortunes of the Simputer project is something that we've been closely following. During the Linux Bangalore event, over the past two years, the demos on the Simputer drew eager audiences. As someone trying to get different inputs on this project (for a forthcoming article), I would be grateful if members of this list could send me, or via the list if they deem suitable, a reply to the following question: What do you feel the Simputer could be used for most effectively? If you were a programmer volunteering time for the Simputer (or doing a business job), what would be the type of solutions you would like to work on? Thanks in advance for any inputs and insights that come up via replies. Needless to say, the sources of the ideas will be duly acknowledged in the planned article. -FN -- Frederick Noronha * Freelance Journalist * Goa * India 832.2409490/2409783 BYTESFORALL www.bytesforall.org * GNU-LINUX http://linuxinindia.pitas.com fred at bytesforall dot org * Mobile 9822 122436 (Goa) * Saligao Goa India Writing with a difference ... on what makes *the* difference "Grove giveth and Gates taketh away." - Bob Metcalfe (inventor of Ethernet) on the trend of hardware speedups not being able to keep up with software demands |
