Hi Everyone, I have had mixed results using an Agilent 82357B with Ubuntu 22.04. I have had success using it to capture screen prints from a Tektronix DSA602A scope. When I tried to use it to backup the calibration data on an HP 3478A multi-meter I got a repeatable hard failure. The process of reading the configuration data sends commands like "W1" to the meter where the digit 1 in the example is a binary byte value selecting which location in a 256 nibble ram to return. There are some offset values which cause an immediate failure. I can reproduce the failure using ibterm. I can send "W1" commands without problem but if I send a "W4" subsequent commands will all receive EBUS errors. I can recover from the failure by unplugging and replugging the Agilent 82357B USB cable. I have also tested with a Measurement Computing PCI GPIB interface and can read the HP 3478A calibration correctly. I'm posting here in the hope someone else has already solved this problem or has suggestions on how to debug. I would also be interested in hearing from anyone with the same setup if they can reproduce the problem. Jim Houston |
